Steps To Become An Anesthesiologist

The first test is the eligibility test known as MCAT for the students in US to gain admission in a medical college of their choice where they can pursue their dreams of becoming an anesthesiologist. This is one of the first main challenges on your path to fulfill your dream and hence, you need to work hard. Once the student is through this exam, and completes his M.D. in 4 years , he needs to take United States Medical Licensing Examination leading to MD or DO. As there are 3 steps in this exam, you need to complete all of them to become an anesthesiologist. The first step includes a general knowledge test on different subjects related to medicine like microbiology, pathology, anatomy, physiology etc. The next step is the Clinical Knowledge, where your knowledge will be tested for gynecology, pediatrics, surgery etc. The last and the third step is the Clinical Skills test where you need to interact with people representing real patients and reveal your communication skills as well as clinical skills.

Once these steps are over, the process is not over yet. The medical school graduates who have made it to this far, will take care of a virtual patient through the computer, where he will be needed to see a patient right from the very beginning, make diagnosis, and give the prescription.

Wait, it is still not over yet! The next test in how to become a anesthesiologist is the Anesthesiology Licensing Exam, which is essential if you want to practice anesthesiology.
